I believe in the profound power of women’s voices and feminine strength.
In fiction, this involves helping create stories that challenge, provoke, and heal. In women’s health, this means crafting essential health and wellbeing messages for businesses to help inform and empower women worldwide.
How purpose bloomed for me
My journey to this belief has been a winding one, deeply rooted in the search for authentic connection and expression. For over a decade, I’ve worked in medical and health and wellbeing spaces, focusing on helping women with health challenges. And while that work has purpose, I’ve also craved a deeper way to connect with women on a physical and emotional level, interacting thoughtfully through shared thoughts and feelings. This desire led me into teaching yoga.
This is where I found myself stepping into my own power and wanting to help people more directly. I love the blend of teaching modern physical postures (asanas) that serve as a gateway to yogic philosophy. If you happen to attend a class of mine any time in Falmouth, you’ll be introduced to a theme to consider that extends beyond the mat.
Over time, I came to realise the stories inherent in teaching yoga, about rootedness, truthfulness, self-study, self-discipline, and surrender (among many others), are all values and aspirations writers can bring into their craft. I had an instant yearning to return to fiction writing. To what I truly loved.
Through this newly discovered lens of connecting more deeply with others, I wanted to write but also extend my abilities as a developmental editor and writer coach to help women improve their work. I thought if my stories are not being written or heard, how many other women are there doing the same? Allowing some form of fear or challenge to prevent us from releasing our voices and stories into the world.
We are only human. And despite my training and expertise, the fear of not being good enough is real. Whether as an author, editor, mentor, cheerleader or writing coach, somehow, I’ve allowed myself to be held back. However, when I began navigating my menopause journey, a deeper truth emerged – I owed myself an opportunity to do what I loved and share that with people who felt the same. It’s time to shatter the self-limiting beliefs that hold us captive.

This journey matters deeply to me because I believe women continue to need support to fulfil their profound feminine role of creativity, one that extends far beyond pro-creativity. We are more than just our bodies; we have our own minds, and we have so much to say and do. Our voices are so important and needed right now.
I’m here for women who want to navigate their nurturing selves, who have an unfinished manuscript, and feel ready to overcome their fears and doubts. Women who want to feel empowered by bringing their authentic selves to the process of writing powerful and inspiring fiction.

A bit about what I love
Folks who know me are well accustomed to my head being buried deep in literary fiction and dystopian novels. I'm also a huge fan of science fiction, magical realism and fantasy works. I'm an enthusiastic beta reader, attend monthly book club meetings, and often have 10 novels on the go with a good measure of non-fiction reads thrown in (usually on health and wellbeing). My cat loves long reads for lap lounging.
I'm currently working on a literary novel about identity, loss and hope, set in Cornwall, with support from the amazing people at Jericho Writers. I also love writing short stories. Check out Saltwater Grounding in Salt and Stone by Hermitage Press, a story published in an anthology penned by a collection of brilliant Cornish writers. Read about the inspiration for the story here.
I'm a qualified vinyasa yoga and menopause yoga teacher, which I often find helps inform my work. It helps me keep a clear head when I need it. It also enables me to access the dark cave of my heart, a place of compassion, vulnerability, and truth that influences everything I do.
Amplifying women’s voices
Perhaps you’ve found yourself feeling held back, or that your work isn’t moving forward as you’d hoped. That sense of your voice missing something, or your creative potential feeling stuck, is something many women experience. If you’re looking for clear guidance and support to make real progress and get your manuscript out into the world, you’re absolutely in the right place. You don’t have to navigate this alone.
How I support women writers
When you work with me, you’ll find a nurturing and empathetic partner who believes deeply in your vision. I approach every project with patience and a positive mindset, actively listening to ensure you feel heard and understood. You are always firmly in the driving seat; my role is to offer gentle, encouraging guidance and unwavering support as you navigate your creative journey.
We’ll explore your understanding of wordcraft, your experience and training, and where you are with your story idea or manuscript and agree if you need a fresh pair of eyes for a summary critique, detailed developmental editing or writer coaching to help you move forward.
We can collaborate on your novel long-term or tackle particular areas in focused sessions, fitting them seamlessly into your life, working around your schedule, family and work commitments, and budget. Our meetings will keep you accountable, help you make real progress, and take your work to the next level in the publishing process.

Partnering with health and wellbeing businesses
Having copywritten for a broad range of organisations over the past few decades, I now specialise in working with women’s health and wellbeing businesses, individual practitioners and agencies serving clients and occupational health teams. I’m deeply committed to helping raise awareness of the latest health advice and research, particularly in women’s health, as research funding remains vastly inadequate.
Health and wellbeing content plays a vital role in making complex information accessible, building trust through clarity, and supporting real-life change using language that resonates. Drawing on this dedication and my extensive experience, we’ll explore your audience, your expertise, and the conversations you want to be part of.
‘Working with Jakki on the optimised copywriting for my new website was a great experience.
She paid close attention to detail, communicated clearly throughout and took the time to answer all of my questions.
